I have extensive experience and passion for caring and conserving works of art on paper. I conduct surveys to assess the condition of large & small collections and liaise with conservation mounters and framers. I also carry out condition checks on artworks before and after exhibitions.
Common problems:
There are a number of problems I am used to solving, including:
● Effects of damp, humidity & mould. These cause foxing, staining & planar distortion
● Effects of strong daylight/UV penetration
● Effects of poor mounting & framing, including acidic mounts, backboards & adhesives
● Also physical damage from poor handling, storage & shipment
